Meet Two New Additions to Our Studio Team

As AHeirloom INC has grown, so has our studio and team. We are so pleased to introduce two new faces — Emily and Chelsea. While focusing on production and a constant flow of custom orders, these promising young designers are also bringing a fresh new voice to our work. We’re thrilled to have them on board!

What did you study in school and what made you decide to focus on Industrial Design?

I originally started out in architecture because it was the only field of design I knew of coming out of high school. It wasn't until I caught a glimpse of what my college roommate was up to, in her industrial design concentration, that I realized I was in the wrong field.

What inspires you?

It's not a what, but rather who. My mother of course, hardworking since day one and never stopping. Now add 23 years (for my brother and I) into the mix. She's amazing.

Who are your design heroes?

Scandinavian designers. Especially HAY from Copenhagen. Everything that comes out of that studio looks like a work of art from the photography to the furniture to the tableware.

What are your favorite foods from the our Pinterest boards?

Basically anything that's a pastry, but if I had to choose, the Strawberry Thyme Cake. Reminds me of the cakes my step-grandma used to make for my birthdays.

What did you study in school and what made you decide to focus on Industrial Design?

I chose to study Industrial Design because I like the process of both designing and making. I learned every production method and material I could in school - from ceramics, to metal working, to screenprinting - because I liked the freedom of carrying out my designs in whatever form it wanted to be in.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by the vibrant and exciting city I live in, and the places around the country and around the world that I have been fortunate enough to travel to.

Who are your design heroes?

Currently I am also inspired by the maker community in Los Angeles, people like Eric Trine and Jory Brigham, and studios like Wolfum and Brook&Lyn. As a Southern CA native, it's exciting to see such interesting voices and distinctive styles influencing the design world.

What are your favorite foods from our Pinterest boards?

My favorite foods are probably the cheese plates. I love a good cheese plate.
